Biscuits doused with butter and cakes with colorful frosting, ooey-gooey brownies and cookies filled with chocolate chips - is your mouth starting to water yet? In Columbia SC, we believe you should treat yourself every day. And where better to get your fill of all that is decadent + devilish than a bakeshop? Luckily, we have an abundance of bakeries—sure to fulfill your every craving.

Silver Spoon Bake Shop

Nestled in the luxurious Devine Street District, Silver Spoon Bake Shop has been serving up artisan pastries, cakes, pies and desserts since 2013. Although most well-known for its salted caramel brownies and black pepper pimento cheese biscuits, Silver Spoon’s “Croissant Fridays” can be credited for stealing the hearts of locals + visitors alike. We recommend the brie, jam and almond croissant paired with a seat by the window.

Ally and Eloise

Named after the owner’s nickname and her beloved French bulldog, Ally and Eloise serves all things sweet to Columbia visitors on Main Street and Forrest Acres. While famous for its “baby cakes”—a creative spin on petit fours—and swoon-worthy macarons, the menu is endless with cakes, cupcakes and cookies of all varieties. Grab whatever suits your fancy, to-go, and stroll along Main Street for the perfect afternoon in Columbia SC.

Crepes and Croissants

The aptly named French bakery, Crepes and Croissants, treats its patrons to fluffy crepes and flakey croissants—both with sweet and savory varieties. The entrée crepes are named after countries around the world + stuffed accordingly—i.e. the “Italy” crepe is filled with Provence herbs marinated chicken, mozzarella and tomato. The croissant sandwiches make the perfect lunch, filled with fresh + surprising ingredients from smoked salmon to pimento cheese. This quaint creperie proves that it deserves our attention for more than just dessert (although we would eat a S’mores crepe for breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Blue Flour Bakery

Blue Flour Bakery is one of the city’s most well-known sugar factories. While the make-you-drool menu includes the bakery basics—muffins, cookies, cakes, etc.—the folks at Blue Flour create “what the dawn hours inspire”, so come prepared for daily and seasonal specials that’ll knock your socks off. Oh, and be sure to snag a signature latte on your way out.

Crust Bakehouse

Located in the eclectic Rosewood neighborhood of Columbia, Crust Bakehouse fills our bellies with warm scones, muffins, biscuits and freshly baked breads, along with cookies + other sweet treats, that are all made from scratch, daily. Need we say more? Because, honestly, is there really anything better than warm carbs? Get back to us if you think of something.

smallSUGAR

When it comes to pastries, smallSUGAR knows how to do them right. Flaky almond croissants, morning buns, and pain au chocolat all fill the pastry case at this Vista establishment that has quickly become a favorite of locals and savvy travelers alike. The bakers at smallSUGAR branch out from these classics to create unique pastries each day. Stop by for the chance to try new flavors like key lime croissant or a savory chipotle cream danish with spinach and smoked bacon.

Tiffany’s

For over 40 years Tiffany's Bakery and Eatery has been baking sweet treats from delicate petit fours to rich frosted brownies. While they serve up some delightful sandwiches as well, we wouldn't blame you for skipping right to dessert.

Main Street Bakery

The mother-daughter duo who own this spot are just as sweet as the treats coming from the kitchen. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, wedding or just making it through another work week, there's a delicious bite waiting for you up in the NoMa neighborhood at Main Street Bakery. Swing by and order from their list of everyday cakes or plan your visit around the daily cake specials. Thursday is Sweet Potato Pound Cake day, and we promise you won't want to miss it.
