Columbia, SC - (December 13, 2010) - Famously Hot® is surprisingly cool and now trademarked.  The Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports & Tourism (MACST) has received the Certificate of Registration from the Patent and Trademark Office.  Famously Hot® became registered November 9, 2010.

With the assistance from community partners including the city of Columbia, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Richland and Lexington County officials, and local tourism partners, the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports & Tourism launched Famously Hot® in August, 2008.  The purpose was to create a community brand that would attract meetings and conventions, sports groups, and leisure visitors to Columbia.  It was also created so that businesses and partners within the region could take the Famously Hot® campaign and used it within their own marketing strategies.

The campaign is built on Columbia's greatest assets-its happening nightlife, sizzling cuisine, and fiery music and arts scene.  Famously Hot® is being used in all MACST communication vehicles that promote Columbia.  It is also being used by various businesses and municipalities.

The marketing campaign was developed with the assistance of ADCO, a Columbia-based strategic, creative and interactive agency along with regional partners and stakeholders.

"This is a big win for the Columbia region.  Our partners and community members have really embraced Famously Hot® and are spreading the message within the area and outside our borders.  We're officially registered and the community deserves the credit."

Famously Hot® filed for registration March, 31. The registration number is 3,873,255; serial number is 85/002,967.
