While we love an impromptu brewery hopping day (especially on a sunny day), sometimes it’s nice to have a schedule for your suds. Read on for some beer-focused experiences and events that are sure to wet your whistle.

Columbia Brew Bus

They drive, you drink. Hit some of Columbia’s most popular breweries without having to plan the tour yourself. Pick from their list and you’ll get beer samples, a facility tour, and Q&A at each brewery.

Along your journey, the Brew Bus offers light snacks and water, beer trivia with prizes and coolers to keep your beer purchases cold. Bonus – you get 20% off all food items before or after the tour at the official meeting spot, Liberty Tap Room in The Vista. You can hop on a pre-scheduled tour with strangers for some good old-fashioned camaraderie or keep it to yourself for a private tour.

SC Pedal Parlor

The calories don’t count if you’re exercising in between brews, right? See this capital city from a different perspective with your very own party on wheels. This 100% human powered “bike” can hold up to 16 people and will meander through The Vista and Main Street, anytime of year. Book it for a special event or just for fun. (Pro tip – it’s not just for beer lovers. You can grab any type of drink at each stop.) We’ll be on the lookout for your rowdy crew and will expect to hear some sing-alongs as you’re passing by.

Bierkeller Columbia

Do yourself a favor and keep up with these guys on social media to see where they will be next. You’ll find these pop-up biergartens serving German lagers across the city depending on the season. Most often, they’re tucked away on the banks of the Congaree River at Riverfront Park. These riverfront pop-ups have become wildly popular among locals and their pups alike. Prost, y’all.

Beer Festivals

There’s no shortage of festivals in Columbia. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, let us help you plan your calendar with these beer-centric events – just to name a few.

Going on 12 years strong, the World Beer Festival comes to town annually and is always a near-sellout event. With local, national and international brews in tow, it will be hard not to find a favorite here. Head to the South Carolina State Fairgrounds on February 22, 2020 for this year’s rollicking good time.

One of many events put on by Farm to Table Productions, the Smoke & Beer festival fuses eating local with craft beer. Take in dishes from local chefs, all using craft beer as the secret ingredient. Whether the beer is infused in the food, or acts as a pairing, you come out as the winner in the end.

Soda City Suds Week is a week-long celebration of craft beer with different venues for each event. It’s typically held in March and includes events like a kickoff party, all-day block parties at local beer stores and, of course, a sudsy brunch. Stay tuned for the new dates!
