'Famously Hot' Weekends Mean 'Surprisingly Free' Music + Movies

What's hot about Columbia weekends this time of year? FREE concerts and movies in our scenic parks and trendy districts! Make the most of this "famously hot" summer and keep your cool with this list of weekend fun. Bring your family, your friends or plan something different for date night without breaking the bank.
Free Movies at Finlay Park
Free family movies will be shown Friday nights at Finlay Park this summer, beginning June 17 and ending July 22. There will be free popcorn and drinks provided for everyone. Movies begin at sunset, or approximately 8:00 pm. Bring chairs or a blanket, but leave the pets, alcohol and glass containers at home. Picnics welcome. Movies: June 17- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (PG); June 24- Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief (PG); July 1- Horton Hears A Who! (G); July 8- Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (PG); July 15- Nim's Island (PG); July 22- Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back (PG).
Free Movies at North Springs Park
Movies in the Park is a free outdoor movie event in Northeast Columbia at North Springs Park. Enjoy Despicable Me on a giant 15X25 movie screen, with drinks, popcorn, and Sno Cones on Friday, June 17. Don't miss the Chick-fil-a cows, the HUGE bounce house and slide, and the opportunity to register for great giveaways from area restaurants and attractions. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Gates open at 7:30 pm. They will be collecting food and paper product donations and selling glow bracelets for $1, with all proceeds going directly to Hannah House.
Summer Concert Series at Finlay Park
This free summer concert series will be held Saturdays in June and July at Finlay Park from 8:00 to 10:00 pm. This year's star-studded series opens with Groovetown and closes with Soul Unique.
