The South Carolina Department of Agriculture will hold its first Fall Plant and Flower Festival at the new South Carolina State Farmers Market located on Charleston Highway.
The Midland’s Fall Plant and Flower Festival will be held from October 8-10 at the new market’s location at 3483 Charleston Highway in West Columbia, just off Interstates 26 and 77. The hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. As always, admission and parking are free. Each year the South Carolina Department of Agriculture holds three Plant and Flower Festivals in the spring and two in the fall. With the market moving to its new location in Lexington County, the Department will now hold a festival in the fall in the Midlands.

Now is a great time to get out into your yard or garden armed with new plants and flowers from the Midland’s Fall Plant and Flower Festival and visitors will find numerous varieties of horticultural and agricultural products for their home gardens. Because of the wide variety of plants, and lawn and garden décor for sale, visitors are encouraged to bring along a wagon or cart to carry their purchases and please don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes.

“This is the first year we’ve held a Fall festival in Columbia and with our new market opening, it’s a great place to find just what you need for your lawn and garden,” said South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture, Hugh E. Weathers. “We’re excited about our new location and new facilities and invite everyone out to come out and join us. While you’re there, you can see what else is happening at the new market.”

The exhibitors on hand will sell a wide variety of plants needed to make any yard the envy of the neighborhood. In addition to plants, flowers and yard décor, there will also be a booth for Clemson Extension’s Master Gardeners to answer gardening questions. The Plant and Flower Festival is always a great place for the novice or experienced gardener. The festival will be held, rain or shine, at the new State Farmers Market at 3483 Charleston Highway.
