Summer may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean the action in Columbia SC is slowing down by any means. Plan ahead and send the season off with a bang. Read on for our jam-packed roundup below, then take a peek at our calendar of events for even more happenings in the real Southern hot spot.

Soak up Summer

Live it up this month! Check out the Main Street nightlife with First Thursday on Main. Or go all out taking it from day to night with the Main Street Latin Festival. Kick your Sunday up a notch with Brookland Brunch and Sunday Funday at River Rat Brewery. Partake in pop culture at Soda City Comic Con (with special guest Mike Colter – Columbia native and star of Marvel’s Luke Cage!) or by catching a screening of Coco for the season’s final installation of Twilight in the Garden. Love tomatoes? Then snack on tomato-themed dishes from area restaurants, go bobbing for tomatoes and enjoy live music at the 9th Annual Tasty Tomato Festival. And make lasting summer memories with your kids at Lope’s 3rd Annual Family Fun Day 2k18 at Sesquicentennial State Park or the BrickUniverse LEGO Fan Convention at Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Local Finds

Peruse the stalls and shop for handmade goods and seasonal produce morning, noon and night at Soda City Market, the Richland Library Farmers Market or the City Roots Farmers Market.

Hey Batter, Batter

Get your fill of ballpark hot dogs and brews until the Spring with Columbia Fireflies Baseball and Lexington County Blowfish Baseball

Did You Know?

Get to know Columbia through its history with the Historic USC Walking Tour, South Carolina State House Tours, Moonlight Cemetery & Secrets from the Grave Tours or the South Carolina and Reconstruction, 1865 – 1876 exhibit at the South Carolina State Museum. Or experience something you can’t anywhere else with a Purple Martin Boat Tour. Or tap into the culture with exhibits like Sharing the Chores: Works on Paper by Jonathan Green and Fill in the Gap. (But we recommend doing all three!)
