Kick things off with the return of several of Columbia’s signature events – First Thursday on Main, Brew at the Zoo and the Palmetto Tasty Tomato Festival. Catch an outdoor flick at Summer Drive-In Series: Star Wars: Rogue One or Twilight in the Garden Featuring A Bug’s Life. Not only is August the last full month of summer, it’s also the last full month of the Columbia Fireflies’ baseball season. Don’t miss them as they take on Charleston, Hickory, Rome and Asheville. Shop ‘til you drop at Soda City Market and the Summer Sidewalk Sale. Cool off at the Historic Happy Hour Water Balloon Battle. Appreciate the arts at the Artists for Africa 6th Annual Performance Art Event or Arts & Draughts. Spend the day with the kids at Marvel Day with Spiderman & Captain America: Summertime Series. Make time for a date night this month, too, with the Farm to Table Event Co. Butcher Paper Dinner Series.
