Summer is on its way and that means there's more time to experience Columbia, SC through a line-up of seasonal events, concerts, exhibits and more! Keep reading for a roundup of things to do below, then take a look at our calendar of events for everything that's going on in The Real Southern Hot Spot!
Here's what summer's all about - outdoor events happening all month long! Start June off strong and take the boat out for the world's largest floating music festival, Drift Jam. Grab some lawn chairs and blankets and catch a flick the old-fashioned way this month with the Summer Drive-In Series: Grease, Twilight in the Garden Featuring Tarzan or Star Wars: Rogue One, Moana, Angry Birds, Ghostbusters and The Secret Life of Pets at the Summer Movie Series. Additionally, the Summer Concert Series will be making its return at Finlay Park! Mix and mingle with the community at First Thursday on Main, Five After Five, Soda City Market and Soiree on State. Dig in to the Butcher Paper Dinner Series and June Harvest Dinner at City Roots. Be sure to save some room for Columbia's 2nd Annual Shrimp & Grits Festival, too! Grab your lasso and your cowboy boots for the 7th Annual Blythewood DOKO Rodeo, go for the full-on glamour of the Miss SC Pageant or get downright space-y at EdVenture After Dark - Planet Putt and Play Family Night. Finally, get in a little exercise while also having some fun (yes, this is a real thing!) at The Glo Run.
With the Columbia Fireflies going up to bat against Lexington, Charleston, Kannapolis and Rome, as well as the 2017 South Atlantic League All-Star Game taking place this month, there are plenty of opportunities to kick back with a hot dog in hand and enjoy America's favorite pastime.
Rock out to our June playlist, featuring the likes of Anthony Hamilton, J. Cole, Maxwell, the Southern Guitar Festival and Competition, the Fort Jackson BBQ Picnic and Concert Featuring Hunter Hayes & Kellie Pickler, Tom Russell at Tapp's Arts Center and Trustus Theatre Presents "Rock of Ages."
