The University of South Carolina in Columbia was founded in 1801. The Harper's Restaurant Group, which has been a part of Columbia in Five Points since 1990 with its Harper's Restaurant, is honoring the university's rich history by presenting a new concept, 1801 GRILLE. In collaboration with the University, its alumni, current faculty and student body, we have conceived a restaurant that is a gathering place for everyone. Harper's in Five Points was one of the originators of accessible American farm to table, polished, casual, contemporary cuisine and 1801 GRILLE continues to carry on that tradition.
1801 GRILLE is a great place to enjoy a chef-driven meal and share that meal with old friends, new friends, and family. The restaurant embraces all that is USC, that is Columbia, and that embodies the warm hospitality of South Carolina. It is a restaurant whose executive chef Jason Bruner works with local and regional southern food traditions every day. 1801 GRILLE has brought together the best that Columbia has to offer in hospitality, great food, dining and professional catering. 1801 GRILLE exemplifies the best of American tavern cuisine, the type of tavern that has been welcoming locals and travelers since before 1801 in Columbia.
