Real Local: Kim Crafton

You’ll find equal parts wanderlust and hometown pride in Kim Crafton. Catch her Instagramming the latest restaurant opening or joining the celebration at one of Columbia SC’s festivals.

Hey y’all! I’m Kim Crafton, Director of Marketing and Air Service Development at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. While I love jetting off to experience the world, there’s nowhere that compares to the delicious food, welcoming community and all-around good times that Columbia SC has to offer.

Brunch DOWNTOWN :Start the day in the heart of the city at Market on Main. Their dreamy outdoor space will have you thinking you’ve been transported to a resort…if it weren’t for all the picturesque skyscrapers surrounding you. Mornings call for their signature breakfast cocktail, the Main-mosa. From there, pick your own entrée but be sure to place an order of the truffle fries (yes, you can eat fries before noon).

After fueling up downtown, it’s time to hit the trails. Congaree National Park is a short drive from the city and offers miles of trails through old-growth bottomland hardwood forest and boardwalks over the floodplain.

City: Ready for a different kind of trail? Devine Street shopping offers its own kind of urban adventure. From trendy boutiques like Copper Penny to fun home stores and art galleries like Bohemian, you’re sure to find something you need.

Happy Hour: After a busy day of exploring Columbia SC, Lula Drake is the perfect place to relax for happy hour. This wine bar is steeped in culture and history. Originally the store front was a hat shop owned by Ms. Lula Drake. Years later it’s now a popular watering hole with a beautifully curated wine list and food menu.

Date NIGHT: In this manageable urban city, date nights are stress free and always a great time, with the right partner of course. Check out the line-up of shows at the Senate at Tin Roof. Right downtown, this intimate concert venue keeps an exciting roster of shows rolling through town. The best part? If you’re not ready to go home after the show, it’s just a quick walk to the Vista where you’ll find a lively bar scene to keep the evening going.
