Guest blogger and Soda City Suds Week board member, Whitney McCormac shares what is new at the 2020 celebration of locally brewed beer.

Think you’ve done Soda City Suds Week before? Think again! The week-long festival returns for its sixth year, but the lineup is anything but repetitive. Here are five totally brand new things about this year’s Soda City Suds Week, which kicks off Saturday, March 14!

Soda City Suds Week comes to St. Pat’s

Gone are the days of trying to decide which Columbia event to attend – now you can do both. Head to Five Points’ annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival for the excellent live music lineup, parade and party, stay for the craft beers being served all afternoon at new music hot spot White Mule. Festival attendees can come and go as they please, meaning you don’t have to buy any extra tickets to get access, or miss your must-see band to grab a drink!

Three New Locations to Check Out This Week and After

As Lexington, Cayce and West Columbia grow, so too does Soda City Suds Week! There’s some excellent venues across the river that are bringing the heat tap wise. If you haven’t been to check out Hazelwood  Brewery in Lexington, now’s your chance. The team at Hazelwood not only keeps ten flagship and specialty beers on tap, they do it in a beautifully restored historic space that took over two years of construction to bring to life.

While you’re crossing the river there’s no better time than Suds Week to head out to Craft and Draft’s new location in Irmo! Check out their huge new event and bar space during Suds Week with a full board of all North and South Carolina beers. Don’t worry, the signature lime green walls made the journey to Irmo as well!

Ready to get outside for Spring? You can also help us manifest warmer weather and have Sunday brunch all at the same time in the new WECO outdoor space. The new biergarten and bottle shop on Meeting Street is the perfect spot to chill in that SC sunshine and sample some beers and bites from their ever-evolving tap list and lineup of food trucks.

A food and beer pairing at … Art Bar?

You read it right. Vista staple Art Bar has been serving up local and regional craft beers for quite some time. But did you also know they recently built a brand-new kitchen and unveiled a full menu of delicious eats? Suds Week is the perfect time to give their special St. Patrick’s Day themed menu a try, especially with extended Happy Hour prices until 8 PM.
