On May 8th, we set aside a day to honor the ones we could not live without - our moms. There is no one quite like her. She is caring, understanding and patient. Whether your mom is a faithful foodie, a shopaholic, or an adventure seeker, Columbia SC is the place to celebrate and leave every mom feeling extra loved this Mother’s Day.

Brunch:

When it comes to brunch in Columbia, the options are endless. You can never go wrong with the all-you-can-eat buffet style brunch at 1801 Grille to kick off the day, especially if you're bringing the whole fam. Order a tasty mimosa for Mom, because let’s face it- she deserves it.

Halls Chophouse is another brunch go-to to show her some love. With scenic views of the state capital, delicious dishes, and great company, the day is sure to be a hit.

Keep it more casual, and visit a local favorite: Cafe Strudel, full of delicious ingredients and a warm ambiance. Beware: food coma ahead.

For the moms who choose to relax at home this year, pick up a delicious box of cinnamon rolls from Devine Cinnamon Roll Deli or a strudel from The Strudel Shop in the Main Street District. The mouthwatering flavor of each bite will send the whole family wanting more.

Activities:

The fun doesn't have to stop there. Include some of Columbia’s natural beauty in the itinerary to charm your mom’s adventurous side. Congaree National Park  or the Saluda Riverwalk will give you plenty of quality time together.

Whether your mom has a hand for painting or has never picked up a brush, Painting with a Twist located in Harbison, is a Mother’s Day event you have to participate in. We suggest bringing along a bottle of bubbly to earn yourself some extra points with Mom.

Exercising isn’t a chore at Fit Columbia. Grab the family and get your blood flowing with an exciting yoga class. And for all the animal lovers, they even offer goat yoga classes!

If you choose to celebrate early this year, Soda City Market is a Saturday can’t-miss. The Mother’s Day 5k, 10k, or 1 mile race is on Saturday, May 7th for the early birds who cannot wait to start the fun.

Shopping:

If shopping is the way to your mom's heart, pop into some of Columbia’s gorgeous boutiques. Scout and Molly's located in Trenholm Plaza and La Roque on Devine Street are local favorites, where she won’t leave empty handed. Mast General Store is stocked with all your mom’s fashion needs (make sure she leaves with their old-fashioned candies too).

Gift Ideas:

No matter how you choose to spend the day, we suggest bringing a gift to show your appreciation. A gift certificate to Pout! or OCCO Skin Studio will bring out her smile or consider picking out a personal gift from The Gourmet Shop.
