Covered in pimento cheese, doused in cinnamon sugar or even dipped in vanilla ice cream (don't knock it 'till you try it), here's where to get your fry fix in #RealColumbiaSC.
The Whig
Iconic to many, this underground bar across from the State House is serving up chipotle pimento cheese fries with the option to add bacon and jalapenos, if you’re feeling extra. Pro tip – you can get a stamp on your Pimento Cheese Passport here.
Hall’s Chophouse
You may have heard about the Hall’s steak (for good reason), but if you go, don’t miss the parmesan-truffle French fries for a side option.
Goat’s
This hidden gem in Five Points puts a spin on your typical Canadian Poutine - French fries with gravy, cheese curds and duck confit. Enough said.
Bar None
If you’re a Columbia local, you’ve likely been to Bar None (late at night) at some point in your life. Head here on a weekend and you’ll see more than just a few orders of bacon cheese fries coming out of the kitchen. Or, get your fix as a side with your wings on Smoked Wing Night (if you know, you know).
Pawley’s Front Porch
Up for a little sweetness with your burger? Order up the sweet potato fries at Pawley’s, tossed in cinnamon sugar. No judgement if you need an order of their hand cut fries too because, same.
In Columbia SC, the roster of pimento cheese dishes is endless. Try the pimento cheese fries from this barbecue joint, but don’t miss the main attraction – adding chopped pork or beef brisket.
Café Strudel
Tossed in duck fat, truffle oil, sea salt, black pepper and served with a side of green onion aioli – this is the way of the fry basket at Café Strudel. Oh, and you can add smoked gouda mornay sauce & bacon. You might want to bring a friend to finish this one.
Henry’s
We can’t forget about the heavenly simplicity that is plain French fries. Head to Henry’s (on Devine or in Cayce) for some potatoes crisped to perfection.
Rush's
If you need fries and you need them fast (like you do), then head to one of Rush’s many locations across the Columbia region. This local fast food chain is known for its burgers and fried chicken, plus delicious milkshakes to pair with your fries for that salty-sweet combo.
